One of our NEF team members was given a personal update by a friend participating in the UN Commission on the Status of Women 2015 meeting. It took place from March 9 to 20th in New York. Lyna Javier-Castillo, featured below, has been working with the UN for the last four years. The march towards gender equality remains long, but every bit of progress is necessary. The NEF is proud to feature individuals like Lyna, who are working towards global change, alongside NEF.
On their website, it says:
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.
The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
