Malebe is a PhD candidate in Biotechnology at the University of Pretoria, a recipient of the Department of Science and Technology Women in Science Doctoral Fellowship in 2013, and currently has a Southern African Biochemistry and Informatics for Natural Products Network PhD Fellowship.
